| JIM STOCKDALE Senior Associate

Jim Stockdale has 35 years of educational experience in a cross-section of jobs in different states. He began as a teacher of the rural poor in Ohio where he was president of the teachers association. Looking for broader experiences as teachers, Jim and his wife, Marina, sought positions that would help them grow personally and professionally. They moved to and taught across the hall from one another in Columbus, Georgia.
After attaining his Master's degree at Auburn, Jim was asked to join the university and supervise the Field Laboratory Program until graduating with his doctorate in 1981.
What Calls Me to Education?

"I have never wavered in my wonder at the unfolding and growth of young people realizing their intellectual and emotional strengths. Across different spectra of educational service, I have always felt nourished and blessed by the excitement of real learning and the marvel of capable and caring teachers. Working with diverse populations is a commitment I made early in my career and I have never "looked back" from the excitement and knowledge that different cultures and viewpoints build communities that are strong, confident, and vibrant." |
| During the next several years, he was called to administrative assignments in Tampa, Chicago, and New York working with very different and diverse populations in his roles as a principal, curriculum writer, program adviser, and independent school headmaster.
Jim has spent his last 3 years as a Distinguished Educator with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and served as a team leader advising and assisting Corrective Action school districts. His responsibilities have included curriculum development, faculty training, legal reporting, business office monitoring, professional development, and unifying school personnel system-wide around a shared vision for student achievement.
Jim has spoken before general sessions with the National Association of Independent Schools and the National Association of Elementary and Secondary School Principals. He has served on the Board of the Educational Records Bureau and currently holds principal certification and the superintendent's letter of eligibility in the state of Pennsylvania.
